Rakitnica river

Rakitnica River is really something beautiful. It is the largest tributary of the Neretva River. This canyon separates Bjelasnica and Visocica, and extends to the southeast of Sarajevo.

Rakitnica River is one of the deepest canyons in Europe. The canyon is lined with endemic types of flora and fauna. Bears, wolves, wild boars, martens, wild goats all take refuge in this difficult to access canyon. Crystal clear mountain water can be drunk along the entire length of the canyon. Rakitnica River is possible to visit and explore in the period from May to October. Because of its unique beauty and inaccessibility, Rakitnica River is a great challenge and attraction for climbers, fishermen and lovers of pure natural scenery.
